Agree 100%. Never got the allure of the academic stature. Not...


to say its not preferable to have a good academic program, but conferences are primarly athletic alignments of schools. Given the choice of Harvard or Florida State, why would one take Harvard? It's about the $.

That being said I don't really want West Virginia in the ACC. But this is primarily due to the reputation of their fans, not because they are a tier 3 (or whatever) academic program.

Personally, I'd take Cincinnati, but I admit to being a little biased. it would solidify the Kentucky/Indiana/Pennsylvania/Ohio Region and would add a populus state to the ACC fold. As a fringe benefit, UC was a member of the Metro and would reunite the VT/Louisville/FSU/GT and UC schools. :-)
